Invited’s Gateway Club with the First Tee
Growing Access to Golf for Underrepresented Youth
The Invited Gateway Club program was launched in Texas in 2021 in partnership with the First Tee. The mission is to grow the game by improving access, opportunities and inclusion for traditionally underrepresented groups (e.g. young women and people of color).
One of the biggest disparities for junior golfers is affordable access to practice, play and compete. High costs can deter golfers from continuing to play. Invited has awarded over 135 complimentary Gateway Club memberships to selected First Tee students since the program’s inception. Member benefits include club access six days a week, reserved tee times, use of practice areas, special golf experiences and an opportunity to compete in club tournaments. Member ambassadors are available to connect the Gateway Club members to the club.
Jasmine Do, Abilene Christian University
“Being a member of the Gateway Program helped me gain access to a golf facility where I normally wouldn’t be able to afford. Having this access has helped me tremendously. I have been playing golf for 10 years and I was able to earn a scholarship to play Division I Golf at Abilene Christian University. I aspire to earn my college degree and try to make it to the LPGA.”
Jacob Castro, High School Junior
“The Gateway Program has been a huge help. It has given me a wonderful welcoming environment to practice and improve my game. I have received incredible opportunities that I would have never imagined were possible. At one point, I won 12 golf tournaments in a row!"
